The Food Stamp Benefit program helps you to buy food for your family. The amount of Food Stamp Benefits you will receive depends on household size. A household can be one person or one family or a group of people who are not of the same family. Households may have up to $2,000 in liquid assets. A household of two or more, which includes a member age 60 or over, may have up to $3,000. Assets include things such as savings accounts, checking accounts, stocks, and bonds. Quick Check is a feature of The Benefit Bank that provides a rough estimate of your eligibility for benefits. You can answer a few questions to see whether you might be able to receive a particular benefit. You can also call 800-648-1176 or visit thebenefitbank.com for more information.

The Benefit Bank has helped more than 70,000 Ohioans access more than $123 million in tax credits and other work supports. However, more than $1.6 billion in tax credits and other supports go unclaimed by eligible Ohioans who do not apply. You can check for potential eligibility benefits for home energy assistance, child care subsidies or food stamps by calling 1-800-648-1176 or visiting www.OBB.Ohio.gov.

With one Energy Assistance Application, you may apply for several federally or state-funded energy assistance programs administered by the Office of Community Services: the Home Energy Assistance Program ( HEAP) , the Emergency Home Energy Assistance Program ( E-HEAP), and the Percentage of Income Payment Plan for ( PIPP).The Energy Assistance Application can also be used to apply for the Home Weatherization Assistance Program (HWAP). The Cleveland Foodbank has Benefit Bank Community Trainers, who train people at agencies that work with low and moderate-income people to use the Benefit Bank software to sign up their clients for benefits. They have trained 600 counselors at 172 sites in Northeast Ohio. Training dates are listed on their website or call 216-738-2265 or clevelandfoodbank.org.
